In a place where industries shift, contracts shorten, and “good jobs” can feel out of reach, training and employment support in Inverclyde are quietly building new paths into decent work and lifelong skills. This project focuses on the programmes, employers, and community initiatives that treat people as more than statistics—offering fair chances to learn, retrain, and step into roles that actually fit their lives, not just the nearest vacancy.

It will share examples of what’s working on the ground: youth hubs linking training with paid placements, modern apprenticeship schemes that lead to real jobs, short targeted courses designed with employers, and local partnerships making sure nobody is left behind in the changing labour market. By documenting these good practices and the stories behind them, Training & Work: Paths to Real Opportunity aims to show how investment in skills and supportive employment can strengthen confidence, stability, and community resilience across Inverclyde—proving that fair work is built through collaboration, not luck.
